The Heart and Soul of the Cotswolds

Cirencester, fondly known as 'The Capital of the Cotswolds', is a gem nestled in the heart of England. This charming market town is a significant chapter in the story of the Cotswolds, a region renowned for its rolling hills, honey-coloured limestone villages, and an enduring rural charm that captures the quintessential English countryside.

Strategically situated, Cirencester boasts an enviable location that bridges the gap between bustling city life and tranquil country retreat. Just an hour and a half away from the vibrant cityscape of London, and within easy reach of other major cities like Bristol and Birmingham, Cirencester offers a serene escape without sacrificing accessibility.

This picturesque town serves as the perfect gateway to explore the wider Cotswolds area, designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which extends across several counties. Yet, Cirencester itself is steeped in rich history and culture, from its Roman origins to its prospering wool trade during the Middle Ages.

When you visit Stratton House Hotel & Spa, you're not just finding a place to rest – you're immersing yourself in the capital of one of Britain's most beloved landscapes, a tapestry of timeless beauty and tranquil simplicity. We look forward to welcoming you.
